Video has a huge potential for lead generation. If you are an experienced salesperson, you know leads are people who can become your future clients, or it can be the data that identifies your potential buyers. You access this information through advertising, emailing, third parties, or other marketing efforts.

Even if today is somehow your first time going online, you probably know videos are one of the most used features on the Internet. It then makes sense advertisers would use it to advertise their products or services and generate leads.

There are two main ways to use videos and generate leads: by adding a video to a landing page with a form, and by collecting leads in the video player.

Let’s take a closer look.

Choose the right video

No matter which method of generating leads with video you use, choosing the right video can be tricky. One way to help you determine this is by categorizing the video according to each step in the marketing funnel. The marketing funnel is not a cooking instrument, but a way of describing a buyer’s journey with a business.

At the top of the funnel knows nothing about a business and the goal is to change that. You should make videos whose goal is to create awareness about your business and explain your products or services. These videos are usually informational or educational videos designed to appeal to a wide audience. They can be placed on the blog or other informational places of the website. Most visitors spend more time on a website that has a video and one of the best places to install one is on the landing page.

The bottom of the funnel is where you want to have videos that lead to conversion and hopefully customer loyalty. These can be product or purchase related videos and are designed to appeal to users who are deeper in the buying process. They are usually placed on a website’s product or purchase page.

Place the form in the right place in the video

Where to place the form in the video to generate your leads depends on its location on the website, the goals of the video and its content. The form could be a demo request, an e-book, a brochure download, or a contact us form. Once leads have downloaded these types of document, they are thinking more about a company’s product and are closer to the decision stage of the buyer’s journey.

A clear call-to-action (CTA) included in videos will increase the chances of converting visitors into strong leads. It guides them where they want to go, whether by adding it into the video itself, having a “Click Here” button, or a thumbnail leading to another video. With most video platforms it’s possible to insert annotations so the viewers can click on the CTA wherever they want.

Video thumbnails are small still images that give viewers a preview of your video’s content. Think of it as a poster of coming attractions that gives viewers an idea of what to expect.

Video platforms generate thumbnails automatically, but they are much more effective when they are customized. Viewers will click on images that catch their attention, but they will ignore bland thumbnails.

Let’s look at some of the best ways to inspire viewers to click on your videos with attention-grabbing thumbnails.

Emphasize faces and emotions

If your video features people, the thumbnail should use their facial expressions to give viewers a preview of the video’s emotional content. If your video has comedic content, use a frame of someone laughing or with a big smile on their face. To make sure you have these frames, take pictures while shooting your video.

Use bright and contrasting colours

Viewers will avoid dark images but gravitate towards thumbnails with bright and contrasting colours. Even if your video has neither, you can image editing tools to adjust the background colours and give all your thumbnails a consistent palette.

You should also use high resolution for your thumbnails, so they are visible for viewers who watch them on a large monitor or a TV screen.

Avoid clutter

Your video thumbnail images should be easy to understand, clear, and simple. Place your content following photography’s rule of thirds, which imagines the photos are divided into nine equal parts using two vertical and two horizontal lines. The most important elements should be placed along the gridlines or at the intersections where the lines meet.

The main subject should be off-centre, and you should be able to see their faces or the fine details of an object if you are using a photo of a product. If you add text to the thumbnail, make sure it is concise and with a font that is easy to read.

Animate your thumbnails

If you have browsed YouTube recently you may have noticed that when your cursor is above one of the many videos in the main menu you will get a short preview of the video’s content. These animated GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format) help you stand out from the other videos if your content is original and shows some action.

Be honest about your content

Don’t you hate it when you click on image of Nicolas Cage going crazy but instead you get Nicolas Cage in The Weather Man? Thumbnails should be an honest preview of a video’s content and not trick viewers into only watching the first few seconds of your video. You can highlight an eye-catching moment from your video, but don’t manipulate your content to draw in viewers otherwise you will lose them.

Before COVID-19, video marketing was a major tool used by marketers to reach and engage audiences. Now that audiences are required to stay at home for their safety and have plenty of time to watch their screens, marketing videos are more important than ever for marketing firms.

Here are some trends businesses should implement in their marketing strategies this year.

Interactive videos

There are millions of ad videos floating around the Internet that are simply shorter versions of what you would see on TV. One thing you never saw on TV is a video with interactive content that invites the audience to participate. Examples include customizable content that lets users choose their path based on their preferences, areas where users can click on the video to get more details, and a 360-degree access option that lets users scroll inside the video to get a full view. These videos are trackable and provide companies with valuable user data for future marketing strategies.

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) videos should gain in popularity as the technology makes it easier to produce. Using these tools now help you generate interest among audiences and stand out from the competition.

Vlogging will keep growing

Vlogging, or video blogs, will remain a valuable tool to capture shoppers’ interest as they want to feel connected with the brands they buy from. It helps build brand authenticity by giving users a behind-the-scenes look at businesses, lets them meet the team that runs the company, and gives them a look at new products before they are launched.

There are plenty of platforms businesses can use to share their videos, and live streaming gives vloggers the option to diversify their content on a weekly or daily basis.

Shoppable videos

People can shop online through webpages, social media posts by clicking on images of the products, and now through videos that link directly to products. Just like with photos, it may be possible to buy a product by clicking on its image in the video. Until then, videos are an easy way to simplify the buying process, grab customers’ attention, and spotlight specific products.

Education videos will expand

As the year began there was a huge market for educational and instructional videos, and that was before people weren’t allowed to leave their homes. Many schools and universities are closed, but education is still available online in video form. From online history courses to Zumba classes, there is educational content for everything. Some are free to access; others are taught by professionals in their sectors and available for a fee.

There are also online communities dedicated to explaining how to use specific products. If they are not already doing it, companies can produce video tutorials giving detailed instructions for their products and services.

Facebook video is one of the most important areas of content creation for today’s small business, marketer, or just anyone else. No matter what your industry, product or service, Facebook is likely the best connection point you have on social media to reach your customers and clients. But, traditional blurbs of content or photos are not enough. Now, you need to engage your customers using video. While you may be wondering how your business can utilize this service, realize it may be much easier to do than you realize.

Get Started with These Tips

To create effective, engaging, and attention grabbing video ads on Facebook, consider these tips. They will help you to get off the ground and into the phones of your customers.

#1: Always make ads authentic.

You don’t need gimmicks. People will resonate better with quality content that tells a story. What you will find time and time again is that the most effective Facebook ads are those that can bring the user in through a story. Brand and marketers need to create that story that is of some interest to the reader.

#2: You have three seconds.

Yes, Facebook ads can be longer than this, of course. However, this is the amount of time you have to grab the attention of the people that are in front of you and scrolling through their page. When an ad shows up on a page and starts to play, it has to grab their attention immediately or they will continue to move right on past it. These first three seconds, then, are perhaps the most important part.

#3: Minimize the noise

One of the mistakes you can make is creating video that is loud and obnoxious. Let’s face it. People who are on Facebook on their phones at work are not going to appreciate the loud sounds hitting them. The auto play feature on the site already turns the sound off even as the video starts to roll. That means that no matter what content you are creating, it needs to be visually stimulating so they turn on the sound after those first few seconds.

#4: Customers need to be the focus.

Here’s a hard truth many businesses have to realize. Facebook video is not for a traditional commercial. It needs to be customer centric. That means it needs to play to the emotions, needs, problems, and solutions of the consumer and not the company’s needs.

#5: You need consistency.

Not only do you need to post videos to the site on a consistent basis, but you also need to build your brand through them. This means there has to be some level of development that builds on the brand in each video.

When it comes down to it, it is often best to hire a trusted and experienced video production company to help you to create effective videos that not only meet Facebook’s requirements, but also achieve the goals you are creating with them. It pays to use these videos, but they need to be done properly to get results.

You are probably well aware of the fact that people watch a lot of television these days. Some watch it live, others record it, yet others collect DVDs and BlueRay disks of their favorite shows. Some like the news, others watch only sports, yet others prefer drama, thrillers, horror, sci-fi, reality shows, game shows, cooking shows and so on and so on. The important thing to understand is that irrespective of what it is that your potential customers prefer to watch, you can and should act to find the approach to their senses in order to improve your sales, conversions, brand awareness and reach other business goals. If people are watching television and companies are advertising on television and through other video marketing venues – you should too, if you are serious about seeing your business prosper and engage with its client base in a meaningful way.

How can I afford a TV commercial?

When thinking about TV commercials and video ads, we tend to think about the most outrageously priced and exhaustively complex examples, like the Super Bowl commercials, for example. A level lower are the commercials framing and interspersing the most popular shows, as well as the news broadcasts. What is left after that is advertising space that is clamoring for your kind attention. Given the enormous numbers of TV watchers and the vast field of advertising opportunities – should you really be aiming for the most expensive and popular spots right off the bat? Probably not. So many people watch television and videos on portals like YouTube that attracting even a faction of a percentage point would benefit your business in ways that are difficult to predict. One thing is clear: everything points to a necessity to engage in video marketing.

Why should I choose you for commercials and ads?

  • How much time do you spend on looking for new customers?
  • Does your current marketing strategy activate all of the potential clients’ senses?
  • Would you be interested in being miles ahead of the competition?
  • Are you open to innovative and bold ideas when it comes to enhancing your business idea?

If thinking about these four simple questions made you feel anything but excited and optimistic about your marketing and sales, we should talk. You may be trying print advertising, the radio, social media marketing and intensive networking (indeed, these approaches to marketing may be eating up a large portion of your time and your budget), but the outcome is not always what you were hoping for. If you are wondering why you seem to be missing out on a significant customer segment, the answer may very well lie in two simple words: video marketing.

How is video marketing different, anyway?

We asked you above if you were catering to the different senses through which customers gather and interpret information – you may have heard that focus on and interest in visuality is currently at its highest level in the history of human evolution. From the marketing point of view, you may try to use visuality as a photo or graphic element in an ad, but this is only halfway to success. A sound and well-organized video marketing strategy has the potential to grasp the website or blog visitors’ attention like nothing else. Just consider: your average customer is currently being bombarded by the bright and loud information stream of a hundred or more television channels. As a result, people are getting accustomed to seeing the product or service demonstrated to them as directly as possible, with the video presentation accompanied by helpful numbers, quotes, animation and so on and so forth. Thus you may have the best product or service there is, but still not convince a large group of potential customers that are looking for a video on your website (ironically, even the sheer presence of a video playback box on a page can have a positive effect on your company’s credibility and technological development in the eyes of the visitor).

Where do you come in?

2012 saw a giant increase in awareness about content marketing as the newest way for businesses to connect with people and create a lifetime customer. What’s new in 2013? Adding video to your content marketing campaign. That’s right – with the unprecedented advent of internet in our lives and YouTube becoming the second largest search engine, video is the newest, most innovative and effective means of content marketing.

What Makes Video So Appealing?

Let’s keep that answer simple – because people love it! Videos are interactive, they move, they talk. They are simply more entertaining and attractive. Plus, videos require much less effort. There is no reading, scrolling through images or typing in detailed search queries. You just press play and watch. That is how convenient videos are, and of course, a one minute video says much more than a 1000 words.

Videos Are Informative On a Whole New Level

A recent Boot Fit Fundamentals video by the retail giant Nordstrom gives its customers a quick video tutorial on how to buy perfectly fitting shoes online. This video has greatly helped boost the company’s sales, and more so, its customers’ loyalty, even though the video is devoid of a classic sales pitch and purely informative.

That is the key to good content marketing. Keeping content genuinely informational and non-salesy, one that gives real value to its customers, goes a long way. Doing so with a video makes the viewers believe in the credibility of your company and result in repeat business and ardent fans.

Two Dimensional Marketing vs. Videos

There will always be a place for text write-ups and image directories. However, video will always be the preferred choice of people. Videos bring your products to life. They can actually show how the product works, as well as showcase its remarkable results. Trying to explain in writing how a vacuum cleaner pulls out dust from the folds in your upholstery using a tiny dismountable attachment can be a lot more tedious and simply, boring. Compare this to a video that shows just how beautifully a dainty looking hostess/homemaker attached to the small brush and swiftly collects all the dust, works much better.

So if you are looking for that perfect platform to launch your online sales campaign, come to Kicker and we will craft you a perfect video that highlights all the strong things about your products and shows its value to the customers, increasing your sales by large numbers.

There is no doubt that technology has revolutionized the way we do business. There is so much that you can now do at much lower cost without too many professional requirements. This phenomenon applies to video marketing as well, giving you the ability to create a YouTube channel and market your videos yourself using some simple equipment. If you are a YouTube visitor, you are probably aware that there are plenty of people out there that already do this. However, if you have a business to promote, it is always better to preserve some professionalism for it. While it is still possible to create and upload your own videos, hiring a professional company will definitely help you in many ways.

Advantages of Hiring a Video Production Company

First of all, a professional video production company has all the equipment required to shoot a top-of-the-line video that is of high quality, loads quickly, runs on most browsers and is simply, more professional.

Secondly, video production with a production company is much quicker than trying to compile, organize and present all the information yourself.

You must remember that producing a video for a business venture goes beyond just shooting and uploading a clip on YouTube. There is a great deal of editing, enhancement, sound and much more. As a business owner, you have so many more important things to do – running your business for instance. That’s why it is much better to leave all the other responsibilities that need professional expertise to the experts.

You need a good script for a video to start with. There must be a storyline, a plot. While your deep knowledge of your business is certainly necessary here, a great deal of literary and artistic expertise too is required. If you are a hardcore technology company, you may not have too many writers and artists in your company. It is therefore much better to seek professional help when it comes to producing a video for your company.

Let’s not forget that a video must have actors. For you to put your business on hold and go out seeking actors, anchors or models, the video can be quite a daunting task. The professionals, on the other hand, happen to have these resources ready on demand and can get to the shooting and production as soon as they have the storyline and subject matter ready. So you see, while it is not impossible to create your own videos, going the professional route can definitely be simpler, quicker and better.

The Most Important Things You Must Do On YouTube

When mentioning videos, you cannot begin or end the conversation without talking about YouTube. That is just how massive the name YouTube is now. Needless to say, it is the world’s second largest search engine and also, a great way to promote your products or services, either by direct advertising or by simply creating a channel to connect with your customers and increase your social presence.

Creative people who constantly use YouTube with the right content and smart approach, have a lot of success. You can too, if you just follow the following guidelines diligently.

Stop Thinking, Start Doing

To begin with, you should always have a plan. At some point you must stop thinking about it and just start uploading your videos. It isn’t a test where you only get one chance at it and that’s it. You can always keep coming up with new ideas and surpass yourself each time. At the beginning though, you must get over the starter’s blues and just go ahead and upload the first video.

Knowing Your Market

You must have a basic strategy mapped out before you get on YouTube and start marketing your products and services. You must identify your market, know who your target audience is and find great ways to get their attention. There are so many videos on YouTube and you must find a way to stand out.

Evolve Continually

You are on YouTube to promote your business. You must therefore learn the art of continuously evolving. You don’t see the biggest brands airing the same advertisement on TV through the years. In fact, ads are reinvented almost every few months, even on TV these days. In the world of internet, this reinventing must take place all the time. You must keep coming up with new and engaging content every week or every month.

Make it a point to educate yourself about the latest in the field of YouTube marketing. Refer to sites like YouTube Creator Blog and New Media Rockstars. Remember that your views and subscriptions will certainly see a dip if you stop learning and implementing new tricks.

YouTube can be one of the most effective video marketing channels ever. You just need to play your cards right.

We are pleased to show off our latest CTV Calgary promotional spot that went on air for the first time during the Emmy Awards last night. The video was directed by CTV’s Matt Burlet and Dan Potts. We were thrilled to help out with crewing the spot, capturing the video by low flying aerial platforms using our remote control drones and finally, taking care of the visual effects.

Hope you enjoy!
